I was reading about the FMS gears that some have the depth number written sometimes in the pinion gear. My question is, if those numbers are written with some kind of marker or stamped on it? My 4.10's seems to have some kind or number marked with the yellow paint that is used to mark the sensors from factory. It looks like -2, but at the same time like something else written in cursive. I don't know for sure, does somebody have any input? Thanks in advance for any info provided!!

If the number you are talking about is on the shaft of the pinion, it designates what Lapper it was matched up with the ring gear on. The reason it's written on there is so in case there is a problem with that machine, the job setters car fix the problem or they can quarrentine the gears sets and make sure they are o.k. before they are shipped.
