So im finally assembling the new 8.8. Im at the point of setting the preload of the pinion gear and having some problems. I have all the componants in order on the pinion, and as i spin the flang nut down, things get funky. First i notice all of the play is out before i get to the crush sleeve, then as i barely reach 140 ft-lbs (minimum torque to crush the sleeve) i measure the pre-load to find over 20ft-lbs! (Range being 16-29in-lbs).whats going on here!? I know im not crushing the sleeve, so what could be causeing the pre-load?
