I will be looking for a Ranger Header, but in the meantime I plan to run:
2.5" Magnaflow Cat - 2.5" pipe - 2.5" Dynomax Super Turbo - 2.5" LX Tail

I will have a local muffler shop bend the 2.5" pipe connecting the cat and muffler. Anyone see any problems with this setup? I want to order the parts ASAP so let me know! Thanks!

Also, for anyone in PA, do you know if there will be any problem with inspection going from the 2 resonator/cat to just 1 cat?

sounds like an ok setup to me, keep in mind 2.5 is as big as you'll need it ..even on a modified 2.3 n/a

Mine is 2-1/4" as 2-1/2" is kind of big until you are looking at like 140 hp. Also if you are thiking of the factory LX 5.0 tail, that is a 2-1/4" pipe too although it would pose no more restriction at the end of a 2-1/2" system.

I agree you should find a long tube header. It's too hard and costly to find a Ranger header for its improvement, I got one because I wanted to see what kind of a difference it was and it sure pissed me off that I could have just gotten something else instead of seeking this legendary peice. Also you will have great difficulty getting the downpipe JUST RIGHT so that it misses the firewall and transmission and comes out at the correct level and angle. Starting off with a long tube will simplify the job to the point of one catalytic converter and a pipe with an S-bend to offset it to line up with the catback.

I have plans for a turbo swap. So I thought if I got 2 1/2, that wouldnt be hurting the NA and would be just right for the turbo.

Also, the long-tubes all need to be fabricated for the 02 sensor, correct?
I didnt want to ...
1) Waste the money buying the long-tube AND fabricating it for the 02 ... when ...
2) I would not have use for it on the turbo

But now that I think about it, I cant do the swap until we get a garage (Dad's orders).
So that may be a while til its built (Fall), a while til we get a parts car, ... and I know we can do this exhaust stuff on the patio over a weekend ... last I ran this by him I told him it was going from the header back anyways.
But I def want to fabricate for the 02 sensor because with the gas prices I need every MPG I can get. So anyone have a "How-To" for the 02 fabrication?
And where should I look for a long-tube ... I have RacerWalsh sitting on top of my printer a foot away, anywhere else?

Thanks guys I appreciate it!!!

I just had a O2 bung welded into my Ranger header, you can do the same if you got a long tube. It was like $30 becasue the shop was the only one that had them and they knew it.

Ill hafta look into this as Im not really sure where the 02 is on the manifold now, let alone where it will need to go when/if I get a long-tube.
Also, will I need to lift out the engine to put on the long-tube?
Can I just jack it up?

I ordered the Super Turbo Muffler and the Magnaflow Catalytic, both 2 1/2 inches. Anybody have anything to say about where else to look for a long-tube and how to fabricate it for the 02?

JC whitney, Racer walsh and lots of other places that I can't remember the name of.
You can get an O2 sensor bung from most exhaust shops. I am sure they would be more than willing to weld it on too
