this is for my truck. i just ran into car toys and they suggested components for me. its just f/r speakers, 2 amps, and a 10" sub. i dont want to spend quite this much on some of the stuff, mainly amps. i'd like to come in around 500ish for all of it instead of 700ish (ebay prices).

so can someone who is good with putting components together suggest what i should keep/replace from this list? and maybe where i can cut a few hundred out of the cost?

here are the things suggested:

165a1 focal speakers
165ca1 focal speakers
a4300 jl audio amp
a1400 jl audio amp
10w3v3 jl audio sub

all i want is a clean sounding system with hard hitting bass. nothing too crazy, so im thinking some of this stuff might be overpriced for my needs? just want some input here, thanks guys.

wow, looks like their gonna get you for a few grand. The stuff they are selling you is good stuff, but a little overkill for a "basic" system. The bass wont be that "hard" hitting.

i spoke to someone else and ive just decided on subs for now with the stock system.

all that its lacking is some bass. so im now shopping for a quality amp and 10" sub basically.

btw, they had me at 1700 + installation for that. ebay prices were roughly half the cost.

and don't forget that buying electronics on Ebay is like using that rubber that's been in your wallet for a year. You really don't know if its gonna work or not.

well i am buying brand new in box stuff off ebay that is either 06 or 07 models. i dont see the need to worry about getting bad electronics.

ive bought lots of car audio stuff before off there, from decks to amps. never had an issue yet. i understand on the warranty part, but i guess im willing to take that risk for now.

the stuff im pricing now isint real expensive. thanks for the site link, ill check it out.

again, read his fine print. He sells for less then i buy at wholesale.Dont know how or where he buys it from, but it says "X" year manufacture warrenty, which means you take it up with them and then they say what we say"if you purchased off of E-bay, we dont authorize, those purchases".And he also states on some products "we are not authorized".

I've read the "We are not an authorized "X" dealer" on some of his products. I've also done a search on car audio forums and many people recomend that store as very few people have had issues. Beside I've purchased through Best buy (6x8's) and they don't warrenty crap their either, they told me I had to go through Pioneer (unless you buy there warrenty). Not sure if this is reginal(sp?) but that's what I was told. They "hooked" me up and did it anyway but wouldn't again if they blew.

Also check out www.speedsound.com they seem to get high marks for products as well and are very well priced.

Most items will carry a manufacturers 1 year warrenty if its installed by a AUTHORIZED installer/shop. Even the stuff i sell i give 6 months+ depending on the brand.I can tell you from working at mfg. when a customer sends in a warrenty issue, good luck getting back in less then 3 or 4 weeks.

I know from my experience, i can buy cheap stuff and have it last years, the first time I buy a expensive peice with no warrenty it last a month or two then has problems.
