My friend has a set of pistons for his car, 1 is slightly damaged, but nothing so severe that i wouldnt use the pistons again. So i was selling them on ebay for him, and a guy sends me a question...
"How was the piston damaged? How ru sure it won't affect performance. Obviously it will create uneeded plasma turbulance as the air + fuel is compressed and ignited into plasma, for expanding back the pistons"
Now, maybe i am old school, but i have never heard the word plasma in a motor like that..is there any truth to what he is saying? Keep in mind the damage to the piston is minimal. Thanks-jeff

" She won't take no more than warp 5 Captain, there's too much turbulence in the plasma, I donna know how much longer I can hold her together!"

Maybe he thought he was buying a flux capacitor.

tell him the pistons will only work after he has changed the muffler bearings and his blinker fluid.

tell him you put it on the time domain reflectometer and the refractory range was acceptable.

Tell him that the damage occured when the inertial dampeners went offline and that so long as the subspace containment field stays active that the risk structural breach is minimized. It is however, important that dilithium injectors be modulated and kept in the 95th percentile for plasma injection efficiency.

If that doesn't work, he can always run on impulse power until he reaches his nearest starbase/Ford dealership.

Also, this is his reply to me when i told him that he was a dumbass...

"My idea is not conjured btw, PHYSICS is PHYSICS.
Math was developed to explain physics. I've read my fair shair on kinematics and fluid dynamics"

So to top it off, he is an import guy...if that makes it any better/worse...it might explain it though.

Plasma = super heated air... If I am not mistaken. At least that is what my plasma cutter does.

Also, wasn't math discovered before physics? It's the only language that doesn't change no matter what country your in or what planet your on.

If he read his share of Kinematics / F.D. does that mean he failed some of his mechinical engineering classes and had to take them over?

Just FYI: Plasma is an ionized gas. The important part here is that there are many free electrons and ions. It is essentially a state of matter, same as solid, liquid and gas. It's the state of the air when a large charge passes through it, i.e. lightening bolt, spark in the plug gap... Being plasma, it has the ability to transfer electrons more freely than as a gas, which allows electricity to flow. Here on Earth, plasma is most often created by exposing a gas (air) to an extremely large electric field.

His point might be that the chunk taken out of the piston may create unexpected turbulence in the chamber. A valid point.

And, plasma is created in the spark plug gap during ignition.

But he really doesn't have his terms right in his question.

With the misuse of the term "plasma", he has earned another ricer sticker. I'm sure it will add HP.

I didn't plan on it until I saw the CR myself (I thought it would be higher). Now I figure; Why not?
In all honesty I have two (twin) turbos that I need to sell so that I can bolt up a supercharger, most likely a bd-11.

Sorry for side tracking the thread.

What were we talking about?

Ohhhh!!! A shiny thing!!!

My first couple of years, I did more lurking than posting. Had to learn before I taught.

And I'm kind of a selfish poster... The majority of the time that I'm on here, I'm here because I need to know something.

Then, probably didn't post for a good year or two when I wasn't doing anything to the Stang (because I was flat out BROKE).

But I'm posting now!
