PLEASE HELP!! 4.10/WRX question

b4 my mustang days, i will admit, i was a ricer. and really into wrxs. stock rex's put down only 168 AWHP tho. im confused as to how hes beating you youve got at least 230 RWHP, plus 4.10s, which pull like a mo fo. his intake doesnt add more than 5-7 AWHP, and the cats/exhaust should add only about 8 AWHP, which puts him (generously)to only 183 AWHP. the only thing i can think of is that chip is upping his timing, and REALLY boosting his turbo PSI, which is stupid to do on a stock turbo and stock internals adding 2 PSI to his turbo's max could net another 15-40 AWHP. upping your timing will definitly help, but you may want to think more of adding a C&L maf/TB/Plenum, or all three, rather than just a mid-pipe. btw, do you happen to know the brand of the chip?

I'm with you, I test drove a wrx when they first hit the lot. It was an auto but that thing was a slug! Below 4000rps or so and the WRX is worthless. No way he is taking you! You need to drop the hammer on that fool!

Hey thanks for the help!!! Yeah, a stock wrx is nothing to beat when you have a gt with 4.10s. But now that he has put on the mods i listed, his car is far and I mean extremely far from being a stock wrx perfomance-wise. Used to, his car would be very weak under 4000rpms but now it kicks major ass below 4000 rpms and is freeking insane after that. I mean, I have raced 4 other 99 and up gts and beat them, but only one of them seemed to have done any serious mods (he had exhaust, pullies, gears) Also, I have never had a problem beating 98 cobras or the previous model trans-ams. So I dont think that it is that my car is weak and that maybe that is why he is pulling on me. Im telling you guys, those damn turbo-charged cars are no joke. Even the other day I saw a guy with a 99-up gt get waxed by a one of those dodge neon type cars that have a turbo. But given that my buddy has a AWD and a modified turbo car, his car is almost entering into another level beyond my car's performance. I mean, I can take him from 70mph to about 100mph but with 4.10s I top out at around 105mph so after that he leaves me big time.

Im gonna put on the prochamber, pullies/TA, than I will let you guys know what happens. I am pretty sure that from the line he is gonna leave me everytime, but from a roll, I will have to see.

On the other hand, I would not trade my car for his. There is nothing like the feeling of serious tourque!!!! Puts a smile on my face every time. Turns girls on too...

not to hijack the thread, but i let my friend drive my stang for the first time last week. he just got a 2004 Audii TT Quattro. so he takes off, shifts to 2nd, and floors it. all i hear over the engine is "HOLY ****" so then i tell him to floor it in 1st. he downshifts at the appropriate rpm, then nails it at 3000 rpms. needless to say, he experienced his first real fishtail. i was scared as crap b/c hes never really been sideways b4, since his current car is AWD, and his previous was FWD. after we stop he goes "dang i want a mustang" then i said, "i told you the tq is amazing" then he says "well i never expected that!"

I'm 3-0 against WRX's from a standstill and about even from a roll. You need to remember where the V8 muscle cars always dominate, and that's torque. You have big torque and RWD - two major dragging advantages. I can't imagine an AWD or FWD outdoing you at the line if the power is at all comparable. To redeem yourself, you should at least race him from the standstill once. Otherwise you definitely need to up the hp.

What does "kiss me" mean? I keep seeing that in these forums.

Have you guys entered the V6 forums recently? Everyone in there has turned into a ricer. A guy was thinking about trading in for a WRX wagon or something. EVERYONE in the forum agreed and they were going on and on about foreign cars. WTF is that? I thought I was going to puke. I'm staying away from those guys.
