please help get me into the 13's

ok so i went to good old island dragway last friday to get a baseline before any mods are done. the only thing thats done to the car is a bassani exhaust and a short shifter. its a vert so i know its heavy and then theres my not so light self. but it ran a 14.611 @ 96.96. with a 2.217 60 ft. i would like to at least get it into the 13's by the next trip. any help with some quick things will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

At the track, you could try pulling out the passenger side headlight, the spare tire and jack. Find a good set of drag radials and you could be on your way. I wouldn't say that will get you 13's, but it will definately steer you in the right direction!

Try slipping the clutch a little out of the hole to drop your 60' times!

get some drag radials and work on your 60' times down to like a 1.9, 2.0 and maybe a tb/plenum combo and 4:10s and you should hit 13s. Or just buy a kenne bell from MPH

4.10's and a good sticky tire should get you there ....maby even 3.73's ,good tire and a chip of somesort


I have a 01 gt with a short throw shifter ,magnapack catback, 1.5 drop springs ,cai and 3.73's and i did a 13.79...

you can get 13's with it the way you are. I have a vert also and with just exhaust and gears I ran 13.6 @ 99mph with a 1.9 sixty. It is gonna take some practice on the launch.

people always want to mod the car to correct driver weakness. get some DR's and work on your launch.

thanks for the help.. im not 100 percent sure but i dont think it was driver weakness def could be though. i did pretty good at getting it off the line. very little spin. i had better 60ft times than some coupes that were there. from what im gathering from you guys it sounds like just gear (3:73) should get me there with good driving.

yepp ,when i had gear only i was doing 13.8
