Ok so here is what is goin on. I have a 94 mustang gt. I just did a h/c/i swap and cant seem to get her runing right. First off it doesnt idle right, i cleaned the iac and the tb, and the maf sensor. It will surge like crazy and a lot of times it will just die out, and for reference it is an automatic. I pulled the plugs and they arent blackthey are a nice brown. fuel pressure is at 43 psi with vacumn off. Also i reset the computer after the mods.
.
-Also i am not burning coolant but the overflow jug keps filling up, and coming out the overflow and then i need to put more in. I did put a 160 degree thermostat in it. Do you think that has anything to do with it? I pressurized the system and it held at 16 psi and no leaks.

Please help me guys. I just kinda wanna kick it right about now lol

what h/c/i combo did you use what injectors are you using 43 pounds of fuel pressure is a little much you should be around 40 pounds at what degree did you see your timing at and the biggest problem you have right now is that a 160 degree thermostat makes our cars run like crap its too cold it doesn't make the engine run to optimal temperature which is between 180-190 degrees for it to heat for the sensors to register readings right and thats probably one of the biggest problems you have right now also check for vacuum leaks

I have trick flow r series manifold, afr 185 cc heads, and a custom cam with .555, and .565 lift. Ok i will turn down my fuel pressure, and get a 180 degree thermostat. Also it ran perfectly with a really lumpy idle when it was 30-40 degrees out now i cant even get a lumpy idle out of it. Any ideas? thanks in advance.

555 lift wow, that thing is gonna fly. If you ask me, I could not get mine running right without a professional tune. I did a MAF and fuel inj change which threw the whole thing off and I didn't know enough/have the time with the tweecer to program that. I needed it done fast and the tuner corrected it all.

put your timing around 12 degrees and probably get it tune since the 94-95 computer is sensitive about cams after that it will really wake up

i would put it on stock timing settings 10*, change the thermostat, if you have to idle it up with the idle set screw a little(not the one that opens the tb blade) so to ensure it is getting enough airflow at idle.... even if it idles high a little while it should allow the computer to adjust to some of the changes...

also may want to check the ect sensor

I used the throttle body blade set screw to up my idle from 700 to 900, and that helped it a lot.

I just went through the same problems after the HCI swap and I didn't go near as radical as you. I called JMS chips and they burnt me a chip and cured my idle problems.
