I'm working on a buddies car, it's an 88 gt. He bought a Ford Racing main wiring harness and computer from 5.0 Resto to be able to use mass air. I hooked up the harness and all but there is a couple of problems. The car has two connectors in the engine by the EEC test pin, a gray and black. The new harness only has one brown connector and no connector for the black plug.The instructions say to cut the old plug off the old harness and to splice into the brown connector as per the instructions. I did that and upon cranking the pump would not come on. I wired it directly and now the pump comes on. The second problem is there is no spark or power to the coil while cranking . The computer is new and all ignition parts are new except for the coil but it was working before the work was done.Is there anything else I could check or try? Does anyone have any schematics of what those plugs are and what they control? Has anyone used this harness before successfully?Maybe I'm misinterpreting the directions?If anyone has helpful info please let me know.. Thanks....
I know this harness would work fine on 91 and up models but not a direct plug in for 88-89 cars..
