Please help with stereo install

I just installed my aftermarket cd player in my 98 gt with the mach 460 sound system.I used the scosche FAI-3A speaker level converter and the car stereo wireing harnesses. The problem is i have to turn the volume up to 55 to hear anything at all and with the volume all the way up its not much better. I have hooked up my power ant and amp remote wire but i must be doing something wrong. any help would be appreciated thanks
