I currently have a stock 89 lx 5.0. Im looking to add some heads and a v1 supercharger? I have a guy that has what i need. My question is. He has a roller cam conversion kit and dampner, hydrolic lifter, twisted wedge heads, double roller timing chain and cover with gasket kits? Not sure what im getting into. Any help is appreciated. Im a green thumb in all this and just asking for some help. Please and thank you James..

Hi, You’ve got a good year, factory forged Pistons, steel crank. Great platform to build on. It also has a factory hydraulic roller Cam, this change occurred in 85’.
As 90SickFox asked, what TW Heads do you have, I.e. 170’s?

unless you know what you are looking at, i highly suggest not buying used heads or a supercharger. You can easily end up spending as much or more than buying new if they are in need of repair.

Like stated above your 89 already has a roller cam/lifters as well as a double roller timing chain.
Is your intake stock ? if so not going to see the full benefit of those heads. Like mikestang63
suggested be careful of used parts, although a lot of good deals out there, at least have the heads checked out by machine shop
.
Also keep in mind what's needed to supercharge these cars. First off if you have a good unit you'll need all the brackets, bolts, pullies,
etc. for install. Need to upgrade fuel system and decide how you want to make the ecu play nice.

That all being said, if your collecting parts to do a correct supercharged 302 you have a nice starting platform and they're
a lot of fun. Members on here will be happy to steer you in the right direction.

There’s a lot of options out there, GT40 & GT40P Heads, Lower Intake, upper (Cobra upper is a little better). If you’re starting from BONE stock, no headers, factory exhaust, factory airbox, these are all things that impact and limit any gains realized, and need be considered.
Personally, I’d start with gears. In bang for the buck, the advantage is hard to beat!
