THIS IS NOT A MUSTANG PROBLEM, BUT I REALLY NEED HELP. I HAVE A 95 FORD RANGER WITH A 4 CYLINDER. 8 PLUGS, 2 PER CYLINDER. ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND WAS TAKING A TRIP TO ATLANTA, AND BEFORE WE LEFT I PUT SOME LUCAS INJECTOR CLEANER IN IT, AND LIKE AN IDIOT I THEN FILLED IT UP WITH 93 OCTANE,(CAUSE IM USED TO MY 5.0) WELL WE DROVE FOR LIKE 1OO MILES THEN IT STARTED LIKE SURGING AND SPUTTERING, AND PUFFING A LIL SMOKE, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD FLASH LIKE IT WAS THROWING A MISFIRE CODE, THEN IT WOULD CLEAR UP FOR A LIL WHILE, THEN IT WOULD DO IT AGAIN. WELL WE PULLED OVER TO GET SOME GAS AND WHILE I WAS SLOWING IT DIED, I TRIED TO CRANK IT AND IT WOULD NOT FIRE. SO I PULLED THE PLUGS AND THEY WERE LIKE MELTED, SO WE TOWED IT HOME. I CHANGED THE PLUGS AND WIRES, STIULL NOTHING, SO THEN I CHANGED THE TIMING BELT CAUSE IT JUMPED TIMING A LIL BIT, STILL NOTHING, I HAVE NARROWED IT DOWN TO THE INJECTORS TO OPENING, IF I SPRAY GAS IN THE INTAKE IT WILL CRANK, I CHECKED THE FUEL PUMP AND IT WORKS, AND I PUT A NEW FUEL FILTER ON IT, AND THE FUEL PRESSURE AT THE SCHRAEDER VALVE IS LIKE 41 POUNDS, BUT THERE IS NO POWER TO THE INJECTORS.......ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA.

I REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE IT ...

hmmm...i figured with the injector cleaner plus the 93 octane would not melt the plugs but rather make it so the fuel wouldnt burn with the alcohol in there and such a high octane (thats why im guessing the black smoke cause it was unburned fuel). im guessin you yanked an injector and looked at it but if not, see if it looks physically alright. hopefully ill try to think of something in a few min before class

YEAH I HAVE TRYED DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY...STILL NOTHING...I HAVE NOT PULLED AN INJECTOR, BUT I HAVE PUT A TEST LIGHT TO IT AND IT DOES NOT SHOW IT IS GETTING ANY POWER. SOMEBODY SAID SOMETHING TO ME ABOUT MAYBE THE COMPUTER. I THINK THE PROBLEM IS WHATEVER TELLS THE INJECTORS TO FIRE IS BAD.

YEAH I FIGURED WHEN I SEEN THE PLUGS THAT WAS WHY IT WOULD NOT CRANK, BUT I DID A COMPLETE TUNEUP ON IT, ONE PLUG WIRE AT A TIME AND IT STILL WILL NOT CRANK, BUT IT IS GETTING FIRE AND PLENTY OF FUEL PRESSURE, ITS JUST THAT THE INJECTORS WILL NOT OPEN UP.

First and foremost, check the codes and see exactly what was causing them, it may lead to the probloem quicker than guessing at stuff. Is the connector on and tight on the injector? The injector wire isn't shorted anywhere or melted is it? I don't know why injector cleaner and 93 octane fuel would cause you problems, especially melted spark plugs. Can you put up a pic of the plugs?

ILL TRY TO GET UP SOME PICS OFF THE PLUGS....ALSO TO LET YOU KNOW THIS IS MY GIRLS TRUCK AND IT HAD 155,000 MILES ON IT AND THEY NEVER DID ANY KIND OF TUNE UP ON IT...IT WAS ALREADY RUNNING A LIL ROUGH AT IDLE....SO IM THINKIN THE PROBLEM MIGHT NOT OF BEEN CAUSED DIRECTLY FROM THE CLEANER AND 93....YEAH ALL THE CONNECTIONS ARE GOOD. IM GONNA TRY TO SEE IF I CAN GET A SCANNER TO SCAN FOR CODES, BUT I CANT GET IT TO A SHOP...SO I GUESS IM GONNA JUST BUY A SCANNER. IS THERE A WAY TO CLEAN INJECTORS???

Look right below your post at the advertisements, there are places there to either send the injectors to for cleaning, or you can do it yourself. I think mpst dealers can do it as well. He's a link from one of the advertisments listed here on this page:

Very interesting article on Corral, basically what I'm gathering is that if your TPS sensor is frozen in "wide open" position, you will get a similar result. I owned a 1994 4 banger (supercab) for 182k and put 2 TPS sensors in it over the life of it.

Give this link a look and maybe it will work out for you...
