Please recommend front brake pads for a street driven car. I have the 87-93 11" rotors and 60mm calipers. Im on the fence on whther to have my existing rotors turned or buy new. They have been turned once already. Please no 'ebay/no-name' stuff.
Anything in ceramic is pretty good, from my experiences. I've been running Satisfied Ceramics on my Notch for about two years now, and they're not even halfway down at last check. No squeaks, a LOT less brake dust, less brake fade, better bite than the stock semi-metallics. Got 'em from Checker Auto for around $35, IIRC.
If I were to do it again, I'd go with either Duralast Gold (ceramics) or Performance Friction (carbon-metallic) pads from Autozone, mostly for the warranty. Cost is right at $35 a set, but you get a lifetime warranty with 'em that DOES cover wear (most places, namely Checker, DO NOT cover wear as part of the lifetime warranty, which pretty much makes their "lifetime" warranty worthless).
Also heard good things about EBC "Greenstuff" and HAWK pads, too.

no personal experience, but from what i've researched ( i need some pads and rotors soon) i'm going with hawk or greenstuff. heard lots of good stuff about both
I just installed Hawk pads into my 91 LX as I heard alot of good things about them. I love them. Their stopping power is excellent(I followed the brake-in procedure to a tee), and I haven't heard a bit of noise yet.
I am running the EBC slotted rotors and green stuff pads. I also flushed out the fluid and replaced with a nice Valvoline synthetic. The difference was amazing....the brake pads make minimal dust and are quiet as a mouse. They are wearing very well as of now and very evenly....with the stock setup. I have also heard great things about the hawk pads too...but with more dust.
I was an hourly slave to Autozone, as well - an "Ass Man," according to my name badge - and I never heard a peep out of anyone saying the Duralast Golds did anything horrible, whatsoever. The REGULAR Duralasts, however, are a totally different story. And don't even get me started on those nightmarish Valucraft ("Value-Crap") pads. Just my experience, though.
