I INSTALED A NEW FLYWHEEL AND KING COBRA CLUTCH WITH NEW PILOT BEARING AND TOB AT THE HELP OF A FRIEND WHO WORKS AT A DEALER, WITH AS MUTCH IF NOT MORE KNOWLEDGE AS I ABOUT MUSTANGS!? NOW I HAVE A VERY HARD VIBRATION AT 2000RPM DRIVING AT NORMAL, IT GOES AWAY IF YOU PUSH THE GAS , OR IF I DEPRES THE CLUTCH PETAL:shrug: ALSO I TRIED WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON IN THE PARKING LOT OUT OF GEAR AND REVED IT TO 2000-RPM AND VIVIVIVIBRATION  FROM WHAT I KNOW THE FLY WHEEL IS A FORD PART I DIDDENT THINK MUTCH AT THAT TIME TO LOOK AT THE PART OR THE BOX , HE WORKS AT A MERCURY SHOP (AKA FORD). THIS IS A DD AND I WORK A LOOOOOOT SO ITS VERY HARD TO HAVE THE CAR DOWN, IS THIS A BAD CLUTCH OR FLY WHEEL? AND HOW CAN I TRY TO TELL WHAT IS ACULALY BAD OR GOOD? CAN YOU GET A NEW FLY WHEEL BALANCED ????? OR SHOULD IT ALREADY BE O.K. OR DID I JUST GET A BAD KING COBRA CLUTCH, IT DID HAVE A STICKER THAT SAID HI-PERFORMANCE PARTS DO NOT HAVE WARANTY!!! ?????:bang:

Check the below info from the Ford Racing Parts website, did you do all of the stuff below properly?

Q.: Clutch/Transmission Installation Tips For 1986 and Newer V-8 Mustangs

A.: The flywheel to crankshaft bolts must be hand-torqued to 75-85 ft./lbs. (302/351W) and 54-64 ft./lbs. (4.6L) The 10.5" pressure plate bolts must be torqued to 12-24 ft./lbs. and 11" pressure plate bolts to 33 ft./lbs. + 1/4 turn.

Be sure to use the alignment dowels in the flywheels. Pressure plate bolts and alignment dowels for the 10.5" clutch can be purchased using PN M-6397-A302. Pressure plate bolts N808969-S100 and alignment dowels D1FZ-6397-B are for the 11" pressure plate.

Evenly tighten bolts in a circular direction one turn at a time. Bellhousing alignment is crucial for proper clutch and transmission function.

Due to production tolerances of engine blocks and bellhousings, it is possible for the transmission centerline and crankshaft centerline to be misaligned. Misalignment can cause transmission gear wear, transmission jumping out of gear, driveline vibration, clutch pedal vibration, pilot bearing noise, release bearing noise or excessive clutch spin time. It may also damage the pilot bearing, transmission mainshaft bearing and clutch hub. It will also cause harsh shifting.

Before installing the bellhousing, check the block mounting surface and bellhousing surfaces for nicks, dents, paint debris, etc. These are some things that could affect the accuracy of your measurements.

Q.: How do I check bellhousing alignment?

A.: The first step is to check bellhousing face runout. You are checking for parallelism of the back of the bellhousing to the back of the block. Install the dial indicator (as shown fig.1). Rotate the crankshaft and mark down the reading. Be sure to push the crankshaft against the thrust bearing for an accurate reading. Maximum runout is .010.

The next step is checking bellhousing bore runout. You are checking to see if the bellhousing bore centerline is aligned with crankshaft centerline. Reposition the dial indicator in the bellhousing bore (as shown fig. 2). Rotate the crankshaft and mark down the readings. Maximum out of concentricity is .015. If the bore runout is out of spec. install appropriate offset dowels.

Offset alignment dowels can be purchased from Lakewood.

I just did the same clutch on my car less than a month ago with no problems. but i followed all the tourqe specs for the flywheel and presure plate. many techs make the mistake of impact gun tourqing the presure plate and flywheel on.

either it was not installed right or you got a bad presure plate or flywheel. if i was you i would try to get anotehr new flywheel. if it's a regular ford service part then you will be able to not only get a new one. but he will get paid under warrenty to install it.

BTW kilgore. nice post.

well it was a side job, we just used his stall at the dealer. and yup averything was bolted up with a small but still a impact. i diddent think their was a special way, ive done a few in the past with dad on our back in the driveway, dont want that any more! but everything went together good. maybe taking it apart and try again would make things better? p.s. kilgore , no none of that happened, acualy i have never done all of that?

thankyou for your awesome instalation post and tip's!!!! but my main concern is what can i do to find out what is o.k. and what i need to fix or replace. i understand this is very hard to diagnose, im just so confused , everything is new ???????? do yall think taking it apart and trying over would make things better. can't really afford any down time or mutch more money this is my only ride:bang: ANY HELP IS WELCOME!!!!!!:SNSign:

If it was me? I'd go back and remove everything you put on. And re-install it the correct way by torquing things to spec. It might work. But you may
have warped something by tightening it down too much too. Only way to
find out is to do it again. You won't make it any worse.

you can use the impact forthe tranny bellhousing bolts and all the other stuff..

but use a tourqe wrench on the flywheel and presure plate. so many people on here get chater problems and other problems with a clutch and all mine come out smooth with out chatter and easy pedal effort. this is because i use a tourqe wrench for the clutch. and i refuse to do a clutch without a new pivot ball and clutch fork.
