 my husband owns a 1969 Classic Mach I; he is restoring same. We need to provide the VIN # to our auto insurance man in order to insure the vehicle while it is being restored. Can't find the title... Can anyone advise the location of the VIN #? I've even resorted to going to www.askjeeves.com
and then I saw this website. Can you help?

One older thread (from 2003?) advised that the VIN may be shown on the driver's side front fender underneath next to the shock bar? We're at a loss... but hopeful that someone can give us an idea of where to find the VIN.

As a female, I wasn't sure if the doorplate would also have the VIN, but then not sure if orig. doorplate is even shown on the vehicle.

Please advise? :hail2: It will be much appreciated!

You're right about the vin under the drivers side fender, but all cars didn't have this stamped in, but the easiest to find is the one mentioned above, you should see it trough the windshield.
By the way, you're looking for a 11 digit number starting with either 9F02xx1xxxx; 9R02xx1xxxx; or 9T02xx1xxxx. When you find it you can decode it here.

Oh, and take some pictures and show us as you go along your restoration.

Also to remember, 1969 Mach 1's are only shown as fastbacks in thier VIN. XX02XXXXXXX is a Mustang Fastback. From 1970 the VIN had "05" as a Mach 1.

Other locations for a VIN include the driver's door tag, and if the body buck tag is still attached by the passenger hood hinge. What about any paperwork that goes with the car?
