what are some of the good things that the 88 model year had going for them?

anything that was specifically difficult with the 88's?

thanks, Ryan

also...what was the rarest color combo you could get in 88 for a vert?

Well, they were speed density which has it's plusses and minuses. It's good until you start doing cams and such. Otherwise they are some of the best years. No airbags to deal with.

89 was the just like an 88 but it has MAF and the A9L computer. However, the 88 can be converted when the time is nessasary.

Are you actually allowed to get a 5.0? Or is this just "I'm getting an 88 5.0 in two years when I turn 18"?

IIRC the 87-88 speed density controlled cars had a little more agressive cam profile than the later years, making them a little more potent than the average MAF 5.0, stock vs stock of course.

This it true.....but "little more potent" is an understatement. We're talking 2-4fwhp at the most here. Most could only see that kind of difference on the dyno.
