I just installed my AFM PMS unit in my car, everything runs fine untill WOT at around 4200 it studders and jerks. The PMS unit comes up w/ the error code saying that it isnt getting any signal from my TPS. Everything was fine before I put the PMS unit on the car. Any kind of insight? Also the car is running rich at WOT, 1 being lean and 99 being rich, it runs anywhere from 85-98, where it should be at 65-85. Thanks

The pressure regulator should nix the extra fuel coming in. If it isn't, it could be bad.

So the car was running fine until you installed the PMS unit correct? If that is true, then either the PMS is screwey, or you didn't hook something else up right.

What did you need to remove/adjust to install the PMS?

I did not change anything other than the PMS itself. The fuel pressure shouldnt be that much of a deal, I can and have lowered it some by about
-4% and that brought it down to about 84. I actually think the TPS is bad, it creates this code even when the engine is off, and it is on key up. I recoated all the connection with dielectic grease and it still did not solve the problem. I am going to have a new TPS come in tomorrow morning and we will see if that solves the problem. Oh, BTW I have all those fuel pumps, beefed up tranny and clutch, etc so I can slap my V-1 S-trim SC that is sittin in my room as soon as I get the money for the new motor.

I was told some new info from some guys over at corral and they said to turn the stand alone off and put the WOT settings back to 0 and see if that helps. Who knows? I am going to try it now and find out if that helps.

Ok fellas, here is an update on this. I tried everything that everyone else have mentioned, such as zeroing out all WOT options and taking the stand alone option off, and to no avail. It still does the same thing. I am beginning to think it is either the TPS, or it is somewhere in the path that goes to the CPU. I will find out tomorrow at about 7:30-8:30 when I get the new TPS put on the car. Thanks

I believe it takes away any control that the computer has on the car after like 3000 rpms (which can be changed) That way you can get consistant results.. Anybody feel free to correct me if im wrong.

This sounds like a problem I had recently... I had twisted one of those plastic fuel lines and didn't even know it when i installed my inline fuel pump. Car would run great at low rpms but would spit and sputter when i really got on it. Do you have a fuel pressure guage? If not i would suggest spending the 20 bucks from summit and mounting one on your fuel rail.

Anyways let us know what you come up with... Im waiting on my new pms to get here. My car will soon have pms... Its moody enough the way it is...

Yes i did run Mickey T's at the track and im still on my stock transmission for now.

Even though i have switched to drag radials i feel very confident that i will be in the 11's. (Taking my slicks with just in case though, lol) I love the local track and have no complaints about it at all even though DonGarletts said that it was 20 feet too long the other night on Wind Tunnel I guess that would explain why Cordova has some of the fastest MPH records.

Its is Anderson Ford Motorports' (AFM) Programmable Engine Management System for EEC-IV otherwise known as the PMS system...

If you want to know more about it go here http://www.andersonfordmotorsport.com under afm products and then PMS...

Which PMS do you have pre-04 or the new model? This sounds like a TPS problem not a PMS problem...especially since your getting that TPS code from the PMS. stop by www.stangtuning.com have about 500 PMS users there...we'll get ya set-up. Or shoot me an email...I'll help that way as well.

Thanks for the info so far. I will check into the fuel line issue. I just installed the T-Rex the same day my tranny decided to take a crap. SO in conclusion I am not really sure, I have leaned out the mixture and am getting a constant 78-82 reading at WOT at around 5K rpm. It wont rev much past 5k at WOT, then it starts to studder and get all retarded. It was used when I bought it, but I have reprogrammed it. I dunno if it has some custom tuning inside, I was told my Rick at AFM that it could have some custom tuning done on Windows possibly. I would disconnect it if I could, but it seems to be stuck to my CPU side like white on rice. I even tried to do my best to pry the connection off and to no avail, it hardly budges. I need to check the fuel pressure and see if that helps, but at part throttle it will rev cleanly up to 6500 if I set the rev limit up that high. OH, and for the TPS it isnt it, I changed it the day that I put the PMS unit on it and it did nothing. It is a pre 2004 model also. Thanks

Well fellas, here is the scoop. I uninstalled the PMS and it cured the problem. It doesnt have the grunt that is had down low like it did w/ the PMS, but it makes up for it on top end. With the new tranny and clutch I am now able to scratch 3rd gear, which is new to me I am going to bump up the timing to 14 degrees so I can get the grunt back. I think there is something wrong w/ the PMS itself and I am going to send it in AFM and have them check it out. Thanks for all the info, and if you have any additional info on this subject, please let me know. Thanks
