I had mentioned trying out a 6-71 supercharger on a fox and got bashed
a few times. "It's to heavy" "It's obsolete" "It's not as efficient as a KB"
Yep,, That's all true. But I have been running it and I got to tell ya ,,,
"It's just to much fun"
When I pull in for gas I usually have someone ask if it's OK to take a picture.
I always have a crowd around my car when I pull in at a Cruise inn. And yes I have been pulled over. (He just wanted to check out the blower)
A cruise down the expressway is a blast,, I even get thumbs up from the Chevy guys. I have never seen a single modification get so much attention.
And the sound,, I don't think I even need to go there. And getting enough
boost is no problem. Getting it turned down to a reasonable amount is the goal. Working with two four barrel carburetors on a blower is a whole new animal. No chokes are needed even when it's cold. And adjusting them is
nothing like working with dual carbs without a blower. I have had a blast
figuring out how to come up with a street friendly blower.
Gas mileage? If i told you you would think I was chiting ya.
something to do with fuel atomization and even fuel distribution kept the mileage about the same as the factory fuel injection. I'm going to drive it to summit racing and check the mileage to exactly what I get on the breezeway. About 600 Mi round trip.
I'll do my bragging when I have exact numbers.
The days of avid street racing and high compression engines is just about over. Now I'm in it for the fun (but I can keep up if challenged) 10lb boost is plenty for me. I use this car as an every day driver. Even runs the same in a
rain storm. No problem. So point and make fun,, I'm the guy with a big smile on his face. I'm having more fun than any car I have ever owned it's a blast.
Having the blower block your vision isn't as bad as you might think. It sits back far enough to still see the right front.
On a hot day I roll with the windows up // I kept the A/C
This was project "OVERKILL"

Yep...

You get the:

"OMG... EVERYONE knows that the only forced induction worth installing is the one that I have! Everything else is inefficient and obsolete!"

Looks badass man. Would look even better on a 4 eye. :D

You got any video?

I'm working on having someone post a video for me I want to do the youtube thing. I'm running two line locks and one is for the left front wheel you need
to see this thing do a doughnut to believe it.
And yes It would look even better on a 4 eye--Winter project?

Always wanted to do that.....Just to gig the haters.

Now that I think about it, I do have another lx out in the barn and a 351 on a stand next to it. How about a 408 with an 8-71?:chin:

*walks away mumbling*

There was one other dude on here a long while back that had an 86 that he put a 6-71 on. Was a younger dude. Can't remember his screen name. Gray 4 eye, single carb.

I though that the two fours would run ritch and suck up more fuel.
But I talked to some supercharger and supercharger carberotor experts and they all said the same thing that two carberotors was the only way to go.
The engine I'm running is only a 306 mostly stock and it worked out nice.

Vacuum secondary or double pumpers? CFM?

I'm running two Edelbrocks 600 CFM -set up for a supercharger-
I guess you would call them vacuum secondaries
you can get them ready to go right out of the box and they work great no hesitation I have them hooked up direct 1 to 1 not progressive and there not to pricey. I was on a budget when I set this up.

Non car guys (Chevy guys included) still think its the only kind of supercharger. People think if you have one it adds a million horses power. There are much more efficient way of making boost and h.p.

BUT. If your happy with it who cares. and a 6-71 blower is still better then a non supercharged motor

I remember more than a few threads ripping on roots blowers, but i think some of that may have gone away after the '03 Cobras. Still a lot of people think it's gaudy to have all that poking through the hood. Personally i wouldn't try to build a serious street/strip car with a big roots blower like that, but it's hard to beat for a show/cruise car. I used to really want a Wieand 174 for my car, and i sort of still do but i could get that to fit under a stock hood.

I like them. I like the way they sound, I like the way the look, and I like the message they convey to the guy sitting at the light next to you.
I just can't bring myself to hack a hole in my hood to stuff one through it. The current hotrod mag has a feature on a 2011 w/ a 6-71, nitrous, and a bug catcher. It looks really cool as well.

It always seemed to me though that the intake manifold to put a 6-71 on a Ford engine was always really a bonafide "adapter" and because of the distributor being in the front, forced an already huge box to have to sit even higher, and never really a "blower manifold" like the ones available for Chevy motors.

That has been the main reason I have always had reservations about buying one.
