I was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting together for a poker night. I'm thinking 8-10 people and we could get some food and beverage to go with. Texas hold 'em, Omaha, 7 card stud...you name the game and we'll play.

Let me know if you're interested.

Good deal sounds like there's an interest...

We could do a Texas hold 'em night with .10/.25 blinds and $20 minimum buy-in. If you guys are interested, we could bring some munchies - potluck style and something to drink and make a night of it. I'll make sure there's gas for the barby if anyone is interested in tossing some meat on the grill.

I'll throw out a date of Oct. 15 (Friday night) with an alternate of the 16th. Let me know what you guys think of the date(s) and what time would be good to get together.

this would be great. I play with some of my friends. we do it like this.
20$ buy in gets you 1000 worth of chips.
no re-buys / when your gone your gone.
Tournny rules with dealer chip.

Too expensive for my tastes :nonono: I'm cheap and all my extra $$$ is going to mod my new ride.

For $10.00 could I just get 500 chips and play till I drop?

I'm thinking a limit game would be best for the first go around. First off, I don't have chips and second, with a limit game one could limit their losses. We could even do away with the $20 minimum buy-in to attract a couple of more people (c'mon Guyster bring $10 and have some fun!). If we want to zest things up a bit we could include a kill pot (double the blinds/bets) as a "bonus round". The kill pot comes into effect whenever someone wins two hands in a row with the second hand having a minimum take of $3.00. The kill stays on until the streak ends.

For those who are die hards, we could use the home game as a primer and head up to La Center afterwards for a little 3/6... :D

Exactly how my buddies and I play. This is how we should do it. This way you can only lose at most $20!

Tell me more about the tournament style rules you are used to playing...

Are you talking no limit, pot limit or a straight limit game? On a limit game are you talking 3 raise max per draw? If we're playing a .10/.25 limit game that would mean blinds would be .05 and .10. The max a player could lose in one hand if every raise was capped would be $2.80. If you're talking a no limit tournament style game, some poor sap could shoot his wad on pocket rockets and easily get beat out by just about anything. Then that poor bastard gets to sit and watch the rest of us play or just drink beer and wish they'd spent their money at the local strip club. Pot limit can get pretty expensive in a hurry too.

Either way, I'm hip with whatever everyone else wants. It looks to be a pretty even split right now between tourney style and a straight up limit game. I personally think we'd get more people with a straight up limit game.

Now, I wouldn't mind setting up a second get together where we could make things interesting...say a no limit tourney with $50 buy in and the payout is 50%/30%/20% :nice:

Sounds fun Phil, although, anytime in Oct is not good for me, so I catch up with you guys another time.
