I installed the drive shaft before I got rained out today. Makes the shifts much smoother on this auto(Mach). Haven't gotten to open it up on the highway but the whole car just seems a bit smoother, hard to describe but there is definetly an improvement.

will make a before and after of the magna catted x-pipe tomorow morning, getting up early to takle that next! Stay tuned...

well I should think it would be smoother running, since it takes less torque to turn the lighter driveshaft, instead of that heavy steel/iron one that was on there. can't wait until I get mine!

you probably gained 2-4 hp, just from losing the weight, and the fact that it takes less tq to turn it.

:nice:

it looks cool, but seriously whats the point...its like getting chrome headers for our cars...just doesnt make any sense, just one more thing to worry about getting dirty

I guess its just the fact that you know it looks good under the car. Putting that bit of detail into a car makes you feel better about it and sets yours apart from the rest.

i can see that, i know i would be absolutely paranoid about bottoming out and or knicking that nice polish job though...it would just be another headache for me

harbor frieght special! I bought a palm sander for like $20 and some 800 grit, 1000gr, and I had some Mother's aluminum paste from previous tinkerings. I used the 1000 grit on the aluminum and then the paste. Cleaned it up great. The 800 grit on the steel, then 1000gr(made no differnce) then the paste. Used a 4" buffering wheel on a drill.

I did it just to clean the peices up a bit. I know you can get the steel to mirror, but its nowhere near that. Just a quick smooothing and got rid of raw material look. I'm sure ill spend more time under the car so its just nice to look at, :D.

I went with the catted as I was worried O/R would be way loud for my tastes. Never liked the smell you get at stop lights sometimes either.

I got the X on today, SWEET! Just as I go out with my camera and tripod to do an after vid, a nail puntured my rear tire and left me at the apartment. So all I got is this before vid with the magnapacks. enjoy for now...

Tire fixed last night(12:00am) and off to cruise town a bit. quick and simple vid, tried to keep the same distances and pattern the same for a side by side comparision.

Love the sound! The volume really cranks up as soon as you past 2000rpm, to cruise below that sounds mellow. Very deep too, the lower tone makes you think its quiter but if you stand behind the car you can feel the rumble, hehehe. No problem with in car conversations and music(becoming rare).

Fitment was great and no clearance issues per the usual. Hardest thing of the install was trying to line up all four corners solo. Nothing like using 4 limbs to balance the pipe in place:nice:.

But seriously OP that looks great and  to the hard work :nice:
I have never done that yet, how well do you think it will hold up? I mean do you drive your car when it rains?
