Well I was bored today, and decided to polish my intake plaque. I wetsanded with a 220, 400, 800, and finished with a 1000. I then buffed with Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound, and finished with Mothers Mag and Alumn. Polish. It turned out ok, i'm sure theres tons of shine left in it, but its my first polishing job, and i'm proud :D Any tips would be great, BTW I didnt spend that much time on it either.

I think I'm going to go back and paint the black in Dark Forest Green with some touch-up paint i have.

Looks like a good start, I was attempting to do that to mine but I figured i'd eventually just buy one pre-polished for like $30 where it's colored in the color of my choice or I would eventually get a different intake anyway. On a side note, i've seen those '302 power' polished intake plauqes for our cars and now I can't seem to find the website anywhere. Does anyone know it off hand?

I might be able to post a pic of mine later. I went 80,120,240,500,1000,1500 wetsanding on the last two. Then I got some polishing stuff from sears. It looks good except were I dropped it when polishing it. Also it needs paint

damn yours looks better than mine

how long did you sand on yours? I sanded with a machine with 220 for like 4 minutes. After that I sanded with it by hand for 2 hours. After 220 the rest of them went alot faster. I probably have 10+ hours in that one little piece.

I also buffed with this polish which made it shine, but I made sure there were not many scratches on it before polishing it

I did that to mine a couple weeks ago.

Here it is after 320, 400, 600, 1000 and 2000 grit (wet sanding at 400 and up)

After a really sore wrist, a huge blister on my thumb, and some polish, here is the finished product.

And here's what it looks like atop my ugly, dirty engine :D

Hey Scot, I'm too lazy to polish mine, can I buy that off of you??

What would you be willing to spend?

I polished my plaque a few weeks ago. Came out decent, but I think I would prefer to run a custom one. If you PM me, I might be able to work out cutting a custom billet one for you for a few $$.

Thanks a lot wystang. I'm thinking about ordering it, it's only $35 and save me a few hours of sanding and polishing. They say it's chrome plated, do you guys think it will look good? or cheesy? I never seen one on anybody's car yet.
