polishing a satin supercharger?

chrome will add some weight to the piece, polishing can happen but is not easy because there are many grooves and small crevices in a head unit.
Hahaha chrome adding weight :rlaugh:.....we're talking ounces here, not pounds. Him running his car out of windshield washer fluid when it was already only half full would more than make up the difference in weight he'd gain. As for polishing it....it's a bitch, but worth it if you're into the 'bling, bling'. My advice would be to start with a 180-sandpaper and work your way to 2000-wet. The start with the levels of polishing compound from there....it'll come out like glass. But remember....the upkeep on it is going to be just as demanding, so keep that in mind before you go hogwild.

:stupid: What he said but more tactfully.

You know, instead of upkeeping it, I wonder if you can just clear it after polishing is done - Than you dont have to keep it up lol - just wash it lik normal - i'll try this on a piece of aluminum at my shop and get back to you lol

Clear Coat + Heat = Caramel Corn

In other words, it will turn from clean and clear, to a nice golden yellow when the under hood temperature rises. Not to mention that the clear coat won't stick to a ultra polished surface, so you'll have pieces of if flaking off everywhere....and the ones that don't are a real PITA to get off and you usually need to do it chemically. Finally, once you have gotten it all off, you've got to re-polish it afterwards and you're back at square 1. The only real upkeep for a polished piece is frequent coats of wax and avoiding any dirt, grease or water deposits to sit long term.

You could look into clear powdercoat but I'm not sure that even that will hold up well to the heat of centri SC either. Call some powdercoating outfits and see what the heat ranges are.
