Polishing Weld Draglites

OK, this year at World Street Nationals I saw a product that was used to polish all kinds of metal. The guy was using it to polish coca cola cans and it was amazing. they came out like chrome. the product also had a sealer for after you polish you go and seal it so after it gets wet it just beads off like wax... My draglites look like crap. I fell off for a few years, I used to clean them and seal them every saturday, but I did not do that for about 3 years through college. Well now no matter how much elboy grease and polishing I do, they still have a"haze" to them.. they used to look like mirrors... Anyone had luck with any products or even know the one I am talking about.. I cant think of the name unfortunately..

Polishing Draglites is a pain in the rear!

Convo pros are even worse!!!

Mothers still seems to work, when I get around to doing it. I actually like my Powerball, although I still don't use it too often.

I use mothers, I have a set of old pacer draglites and though the mothers polish helps ALOT it still has that haze your talking about. I have weld skinnies up front that I bought new a few months ago, and theyve gotten some abuse but mothers still always makes them look like mirrors. Maybe some kind of buffing wheel?

just use a polish and lots of patience. I got the haze out of mine. Do really small sections at a time.

Lol, yea I have done mothers polished alum cleaner and used the powerball and dont really swear by it. Mothers is all right there waxes and stuff, but there is much better stuff out there. it was pretty much a shot in the dark, one of those, " I am kicking myself for not buying it when I had the chance moments.." Lol Thanks guys..

I have used this stuff called PEAK it's in an aluminum toothpast looking tube. worked great on aluminum.

Sorry mate I'm not sure which product you are specifically looking for but i will tell you which product I use. It is actaully called Metal Polish and it is made by AutoGlym. Unbelievable stuff. Yep lots of elbow grease needed but they co,e out like mirrors every year i do it.

I bought a used set of welds that needed some tlc. I used Mothers and a power ball and then used another product I got from the speed shop specifically for aluminum called Heavy Metal metal polish. Turned out great!!

Before/after.... you can tell which is which

Huge difference.
20 minutes or so per wheel, not bad!!!

Hey guys dont mean to hijack the post, but i was offered a deal to trade my ponys, that i have 245/50s on all around directional tire. about 80% on the front 50-60% on the back, for weld draglites with drag radials with about 70% thread

my rims n tires + 300$ for the welds should i take it?

also one of my rims has a couple chips on the edge he is aware of.

^^ I'd do it. Try to talk him down a little for the money though. 300 plus decent ponys with good tires...also depending on what type of radials are on there.

i used nevr dull wadding polish(like cotton u polish with) on my draglites i bought, they had some oxidation on them but nevr dull took it right off.

A lot of big truckers polish all there nasty wheels with that stuff. I've used it myself on some nasty Alcoa aluminum front wheels.

When I had draglites, I would spray some mag wheel cleaner on them. They would turn all white and nasy. After that I would rub never dull over them and they would shine in half the time of just regular polish. Mothers or something like that worked too. I don't know if the acids in the cleaner raised the dirt or whatever off of the rim to make it easier, but they looked sweet. I wouldn't recommend leaving the wheel cleaner on long though.

haha.. thanks, but i think I will pass on that idea. I put wheel cleaner on one of my draglites back in 98 when I first got them new, and found out, they dont like that s*it. Lol... It was just a small portion, and I never noticed, but I did end up getting it polished out. Lol..
