Well, I was finally ready to pop in my new polyurethane bushings in my front control arms (after going through a major hassle in getting the stock rubber ones out). Unfortunately, now is when I read 2 different articles recommending not to “go poly” in the control arm. One article did not recommend it due to the possible binding and excess stress put on the strut. In fact it mentioned that the stress could be enough to snap the strut. Another article also didn’t recommend poly for the control arms but said it was okay to use poly everywhere else (I was planning on going poly for all the front bushings). The article said that if you do install them you should go through the trouble of “blueprinting the bushings during the install”. They describe this as “shaving a bit there, rotating there, etc.” I am not really sure how to go about this, but that sounds like even more of a pain than it was to get the old bushings out! I searched through the other forum threads and I see people installing polyurethane all the time on the front control arm without any mention of this binding problem. What gives????? Help…..please!
