Mach-1's don't just barely beat GTO's at my home track...we spank them...

well I should say...would spank them, but for some reason the don't run in the street class, the GTO's that were running at my local track were both running in the compact sport class!!(that's no BS!)

the best time for that night was a 14.4(for the goats) while i was in the 13.3-13.5 range all night long(9 passes)

might I add, I'm not a very good driver in the first place...so what's their excuse?

Uhhhhhhh then they are the worst drivers ever. I'm running 14.7 on street tires with lots of spin in a 97 GT. Machs may edge out the GTO but spank it? Not unless Old Mother Hubbard's drivin the goat.

Actually, there was already a video posted of the ’05 Stang running a GTO a week or so ago and it was quite the opposite. The Stang got spanked. Why do most of you assume that the newer heavier 05’s are going to wipe the floor with the GTO when the already slightly more powerful, lighter Mach 1 barely edges it out?

How in the hell did I end up at the top of the thread?

i stand corrected, i admit the mistake. i always heard that the 05 GT would whoop the current GTO? guess i was wrong. i have many other arguments about the GTO against the mustang, but after what i said before, being wrong, im not sure i should share
didnt that video say that the GTO got a 13.5 and the mustang was 1/2 second worse? that would put it at 14.0? i have the copy of motor trend where they run an 05 GT that achieves a 13.6?(in an auto, i would think the stick would be like 13.4?) somethings not adding up here, which is it

I think it’s just a case of different day, different driver, different track. I’m sure the ‘05’s will get moving faster than low 14’s…(even if the second one in the vid ran a mid-14 ). But I think the differences in their performance will be minimal. Not the total rape and pillaging that most people are talking about or expecting from all the magazine and pre-production hype.

I raced an auto GTO and left him very very bad. I was spraying a 100 shot, but both I and the owner were pretty sure I would have beat him without the N20. This was from about a 40-50mph roll.

If I had a 100 shot of nitrous I guess i would beat em bad too.

I think that the norm for production 05 GT's will be high 13's low 14's. The pre production cars have got eveyone stuck on this low 13 second crap.

As for the GTO, They are a $33,000 car now selling for $25,000 if at all. This is what happens when you try to give new life to ameican muscle on a European chassis. No to mention it looks like a Grand Prix.

GM giving them the LS2 only proves this point. Add more HP and the masses will buy it. Maybe, but in the process they will be pissing on all of the Corvette owners. Never in GM history has any car been able to have the same or more HP than the current Corvette. With the exception of the 1989 TTA that they under rated on purpose.

actually the 86-87 Buick GN's could spank the Corvettes of the time as well, probably why they only lasted two years

I used to be a big GM fan, but lately they just aren't doing anything I like...power is good but not if it looks like that thing does.

lol at all of you..these comments really made me laugh hard! my friend bought one when it first came out..had to get on a LIST to buy it! drove many miles to pick it up...when he showed it to me...I couldn't believe how bad it sucked. the exhaust, exterior were all plain! the interior was cool...but overall I wasn't impressed! It looks like a cavalier from the outside...

In '87, the GNX was the fastest production American made car.

:worship:The 87 GNXs' spanked the Vettes even worse than the regular GNs'.

I worked at MascoTech back in 96 and we did work for Buick. I got to drive GNX #1. A GNX or GN is one V-6 car I'd be proud to own.
