Curious what the brain trust here thinks. I’ve seen gaps here, but this is about twice anything I have seen. No witness marks on or around other panels (either repair or damage/shifting), rails are square based on some measurements I took based on a few schematics floating around.

To me it looks like a factory worker dropped a panel while rushing for happy hour, but it’s a pretty gnarly gap even for early 90s Ford

The dudes I think might know the answers to that:

@95steedamustang
@FoxChasis

In my mind, that could also be the result of a small fender bender at some point in its life.

That’s what i was thinking too. It’s interesting though, I can get my fingers in there and that panel isn’t buckled in, it’s buckled down. That vertical lip that’s supposed to be sandwiched there is under the panel behind it.

I’m no body man, but if damage was that bad and an accident caused this it seems senseless to not address this while in there but then do decent/good work everywhere else. Go full half ass is that’s you’re approach

This looks like a mig weld to me. Maybe it’s something else but it looks like there is wire sticking out of it. Need a better picture to know for sure. What does all this look like from the wheel well side?

Good eye, but picture is tricking you. It’s actually a bit of foam (from the hood hinge area) with a leaf stem stuck in it. Underside pics as asked:

3rd pic looks a bit unnatural, maybe was hit?

Factory spot welds in place. Its just poor workmanship at the factory. Seen this on lots of cars. Probably put the bay together on Friday before end of shift lol!

Looks like bad fitment on day 1. Nothing else looks out of place or bent.
