poping outta first.. is my t-5 trashed?

think i screwed up tranny not sure...cant hardley start it in first.. letting out the clutch BAM! pops outta first hard...cant hardley use it now... thought maybe pro 5.0 neeeded adjusted but havnt had time to look.. thought i think that its unlikely.. feels like i busted up my first gear or somthing... is this common...?
its an 85 gt stock trannny with 152000 miles on it mods as follows e cam gt 40 irons rpm intake 373gears and more....soo.. do i need a new tranny or mine rebuilt..?
 
Definately check out you're shifter. On mine at one point the lock nut on the stop screw back off and it was tightening itself, got to eh point where it would grind out of 2nd, 4th and reverse. I thought my tranny was fried till I looked at that.
 
If the shifter is ok, your syncronizer in 1st gear is worn. You might have to hold it in 1st gear and granyshift into 2nd, over time it will get worse and 1st gear will become usles. You will have to start in 2nd gear and yes it is possable but you will wear your clutch down realy fast just from slipping it so much. You will need the tranny rebuilt or buy a new tranny. There are many options available for a new tranny. Somtimes getting a new tranny is cleaper then getting your old one rebuilt.
 
with 3.73's you will be able to start off in 2nd almost all the time if need be and not really wear the clutch too bad. I start out in 2nd very often. I kinda just stall it into gear to avoid slipping the clutch too much. It will bog and take off a little slow but who cares...if i need to take off quick i'll use 1st. Check out astro and g-froce for good rebuild kits...or you could always buy a re-man t-5....im in the same boat right now and trying to decide which way to go.
 
It's not the synchros...it's the actual gears. The gears have dog teeth on them they mesh the gear with the synchro slider. Under load, they interlock and are supposed to not be able to be pulled apart.

When you start grinding gears, they get mashed up to the point where they no longer can mesh cleanly and will pop out under load.

New 1st gear is $85, new 1-2 slider is $85. Those are tremec parts. Aftermarket parts are half the cost. Check ebay. You will need a new 1-2 synchro blocker ring as well. Might as well get a regular rebuild kit for $200 while you have it apart.

This is what the teeth look like.

1st gear is to the far right and the middle gear is the slider. Gear to the left is 2nd. notice the nice pointy teeth where the slider slides onto. Notice how they are angled. BTW, this is a 40K mile 1985GT t-5 :)

When you start gridning gears (when the synchros get worn or when you suck monkey balls at driving) they start to round over like this. This is 2nd gear out of a 1992 t-5
