I guess it's a miss I'm having, it sounds like small amounts of muffled air popping. Everytime it happens my rpm needle jumps up 300rpm but the engine doesn't rev any higher. You can tell when it revs higher from the higher tone but this is just a needle jump with the pop. What gives?

Sounds like time for a new set of Motorcraft tune up parts to me. How old are these items now? I should be due anytime as well.

She doesn't pop when warmed up though.

I put new wires on in August. Less than 3000 miles, I'm not changing them
again. The plugs are Autolites. Those I'll change.

I have a simular symptom. When I drive out of the apartment complex in the morning when its cold it almost sounds like there are little pebbles hitting my exhaust, like every 2-3 seconds. It is weird. I have new wires and a recent cap and rotor. i'll have to toss some delco plugs in and see what happens.

The number 3 spark plug wire wasn't connected all the way. The rubber boot was holding it on.
