POR 15 on rear end?

Has anyone done it?

Will a pint of POR 15 cover the entire rear? Does it need to be topcoated? Can't imagine much sunlight getting to it.

I'm also getting a quart of metal-ready for prep

I just don't want to get a quart if i don't need that much since this stuff is $$$$

I just did mine and it took about two pints, I did two coats and than a light touch up coat.

I used Eastwoods Version of it on mine about 3 years ago and never topcoated it, still looks fantastic.

Used POR-15 on mine with no problems. Just roughed up the surface and painted. Mine was out of the car, so it was a little easier. Jack stands will still chip it though.......if you don't use somesort of pad there....

I think I had about half left over from the quart.....

A pint will definately cover it if you spray....brush....no.

guess i'll grab a quart. I want to do inside my front fenders where these cars typically rust up anyway

I also bought Eastwoods Silver Version of it and did up under the Fenders, looks great!

Is it the same level or protection as POR?

I have a bunch of POR-15 I bought to do the underside of mine, but I have not had the chance to do it yet. Since I took the rearend out of the car I wound up having it sandblasted and powdercoated. It came out really nice. We'll see how it holds up I guess. Anyone have pics of their POR-15 job they want to post up?

I actually think the Eastwood version is better than POR15, reading in "their" Literature they painted metal with both and subjected them to all sorts of things and the Eastwood stuff came out on top.
I think its safe to say that they are at least equals to each other and I know the Eastwood stuff can withstand UV Rays.
