Hey guys,

I plan on building a 351w (most likely stroked to a 408) for my fox. My dad just built a 408w and didn't use his stock heads. The heads are stock 1972 351w. And since I don't have the budget that he has. I would like to do my 351w buildup in stages, starting with the bottom end, cam, and new intake (only because of the differences in intake from my 302). So what would I need/cost to rebuild and port my heads? obivously valves and springs, but anything else? and what brands would you guys recomend?

i would not even do it. buy heads when the budget allows.... those heads, no matter how much port work you do are not up to the task of feeding a 408.... the stroke is long, the piston speed high, you need an afr205/tfs r/ afr 225, or similar....maybe even an frpp z304 head.... spend in the right place, you will be better off in the long run. start savin!

good luck

185's will work good
edelbrock rpms will work to just use smaller camshaft.

Always good heads on ebay and can save a hundred or two also

yeah, I decided that a 408 is far to expensive for me and a 347 will be a far better choice.
