Ported Stock intake VS stock Cobra intake

Which is going to flow better. I have to choose between the 2 of these for my set up.

The rest of my setup is still coming together.
Here's how it stands right now.

E-303 cam with 1.6 or 1.7 RR
Full BBK Exhaust w/ shortie equal length headers no cats 2 1/2"
Heads are still up in the air.
65 or 70 mm TB 19lb injectors
MAF conversion

the answer lies in the heads..........and, depending on the heads, NEITHER!

Unless I can find some cobra heads for a great deal then I will be using ported stock heads.

With ported E7s or stock GT40/Gt40P heads, a professionally ported stock lower with stock upper intake or a stock Cobra/Explorter will work well. The Explorer will have a upper power band about 500rpm higher but average power over the usable rpm band is likely to be the same. You can find a dyno comparison of a swap from one of my lower poted stock intakes to a Cobra on my website in the "Community" section under the "results" threads.

Now along the same lines, would a ported stock intake flow the same as a non ported cobra? Would I lose anything by swtiching?

I am guessing here because I won't be building my TMOSS/Thumper combo until the winter.... But from what I understand the Stock (ported) will produce more torque for a mildly modified engine. The Cobra (unported) will produce only more peak Horsepower.

it's all in the port work really.

you can really screw things up by hogging out more than you need.

unless it is extrude honed, or guranteed done by a shop (reciepts to prove) i'd never buy a already ported anything.

guys will remove too much to "flow" more..but it slows the velocity down too much and robs performance.

i would go gt 40 intake or cobra and have the lower ported by a shop...it's relatively cheap since it's ez to get to everything

No it will not - it will flow ~10-15cfm less, but the torque area under the curve will be better with a ported stock lower on many mild combos. Average power in your combo would probably be the same with the ported stocker making more below 4,500-5,000 rpm and the Cobra making more above.
