I know this is a dumb question, but could anyone enlighten me on this one...what exactly is a ported head? What's the benefit of porting my engine heads?

In a nutshell....

Basically the ports in the head are enlarged, allowing more, less turbulent, less restricted airflow.

Thanks for the info! Can my stock heads be ported or are ported heads readily available in the market for a '00 GT?

Stock heads can be ported. You will gain more from them as you get a better exhaust, intake, etc. Basically they help the car breathe better whcih = more HP.

That sounds like my next mod. I don't know anyone in PR that can port my heads. If I take them off, where would you reccomend I send my stock heads for porting in the US? I really want to get the most hp I can get from my soon-to-be supercharged motor and don't know excatly which route to go.

Thanks you all for the info. I will most certainly call Tim and Jeff to learn all my options. From what I've seen in this forum, Tim is the man to call when you want to spend some $$$ on your stang.
