This weekend i will be taking off my VCs so i can take a look at my valvetrain to find a noise i have been hearing lately. While i do that i was thinking about porting my lower intake while its off. I read that tmoss ports out to a 1250 gasket so i was going to follow that same path. If anything in my valvetrain appears to be damaged i was thinking about putting in some new RRs. What kind does everyone suggest and what all do i need?

you might as well just have tmoss port your lower. He does an awesome job and its really not that expensive. He actually cuts the lower and rewelds it to flow better. If you looking to upgrade your roller rockers just check out the classifieds. You can usually find cobra 1.7rr for around $120 shipped. Or you can buy them new for around $190.

i would have tmoss do it, but i cant afford to have my car down for that long right now. I would consider having tmoss do it but i dont want to spend 200 for the stock lower to be ported then buy an edelbrock later on. Im fairly confident that i can port the stock lower myself.

When I port to a "1250" gasket, it never has the same dimension as a 1250 gasket. What you look to when porting is the head intake runner design. My flow tested 200cfm lower is only 1.05±" wide x 1.90" tall compared to the 1.2"x2.0" 1250 gasket. I dfo take the runners to about 1.15" wide for some heads. I can supply a complete done intake for $150 including shipping with a $20-25 refund when you send me your core back. If you really want to try yourself, I have a basic porting guide at:

Thanks for the article tmoss. i would invest in one of your intakes but i cannot afford to do it right now, especially if something is wrong with anything in my valvetrain. I just wanted to do a home port because it will be off anyways.
