Ok, here's the scoop.

I got my 3.73s in probably about a year ago. I recall being very impressed with my hard launching and whatnot. That day, I took the car to the track. When I launched, I really felt that seat of the pants kick, but also the sound of something like glass shattering. amnit: Basically it felt like something shattered. Now, I was thinking oh nuts, I just really toasted something. But the car drives fine, I've just never really felt that same kick.

With a buddy holding one of my tires, I can fairly easily spin the other rear tire. crapola So my question is this, is it likely that I managed to toast my posi that night? I now get really terrible spinnage, can't launch over 2kish rpms, but the car drives fine. Any ideas?

could be the posi

spin the tires, if you only see one blackie, or one dark and one light blackie, your trak-lok is probably toast

Sounds like the posi clutches lost their tangs that engage the diff case or the splines of the side gears. If this is it, it will drive fine, just like an open diff.

However, it will have pieces of clutch sloshing around in the oil.

I would jack it up, pull the cover and inspect it asap. If nothing else, clean out the broken stuff, and put it back together until you can fix it.

If the clutch debris gets in the ring and pinion, it will break off a tooth or damage something.

I had clutch debris in the bottom of my 8.8 that I bought, but it did not seem to hurt anything. I fixed it before installing it though.

Thats generally what I was thinking. Cause I swear something shattered back there, but thought it was just me hearing things since the car drove fine. Thanks for the input.
