I just wore out my posi. I was at the track last week when a man came up and told me i was only spinning one tire. I kinda noticed when i had a lot of rubber on one finder and very little on another. But sometimes both tires spin. Either way i have decided that i am goin to get a new posi. I drive my car every day. Should i go locker, limited slip, or jus rebuild this one? Waht kinds of posis' have u guys been happy w/? Also if i do replace the posi i am thinkin i should get some new axles and berings. If i get all this what spline should i get. I am totally clueless on rear ends. Any suggestions will help. Thanks

The cheapest way would be to rebuild your traction lock. 50resto has a kit for $44.95. Otherwise, I'd get a 31 spline Auburn or Auburn Pro, and a set of axles, and be worry free.

What I don't like is that the Auburn differentials aren't rebuildable. They are a cone style locker, not a clutch plate style.

You could always get one of those ECTED ones. Regular limited slip, then spool at the flick of a switch (not cheap tho).

FWIW...depends on the cash flow and future plans....rebuild the Trak-Loc with 4 clutches & F-150 S spring and it'd be plenty stout for you mods...and a hella lot cheaper too...
Just another opinion...

Evcen try jsut changind the rear end fluid if it hasn't been done in ages. This will often times make it work well again. It made mine act like it was just rebuilt.

Yea i did the rear end fluid when i had the new gears in. It is wierd though. Its only sometimes both tires dont spin. Not all the time. With the radials pumped up they both spin. It is when i let them down to 15 psi at the track that it starts havin problems. But i would say they spin 1 in ever 3 or 4 burn outs.

F-150 spring would be a separate item..the stock one isn't included in the rebuild kit either...

F-150 spring...F3TZ-4214-A

Trak-Loc kit...F5AZ-4947-BA

The F150 is just a beefier spring for more tension...When I did mine I used the stock spring and an extra clutch as in the link, it makes it a tad stouter...
Doing the spring with the dif in the car?? Got me on that one.....If your lying on your back that could be a pain as you have to dub around back and forth getting the shims right...
