i have a queston i know is easy but i'm not sure what the best way to fix it. i was at milan drag way sat night for a import vs domestic night. and i had the 1 wheel peel going on. i ran 14.6 with a bone stock 93 gt the only thig it has is a centerforce clutch. what the best way to get both whells to start working for me? i seen a crap load of use 8.8 posi on ebay. will that work or do i have to buy a brand new one and pay out the ass for one? there was a complet rear end with an aubern posi w/ 373 for 250$ and there were alot of other's for under 75$ for just the posi. and help would be great thank's

1. Drain some of your differential fluid and see how it looks. If it is thick, dark, stinks, and has a gritty substance suspended in it, change it and your traction-lok may start working again. Use a good fluid and do not add extra friction modifier.

2. If the fluid looks clear and clean, or if the fluid change doesn't fix it (it did for me), buy a $50 Ford 8.8 traction-lok rebuild kit from Summit Racing and install it. This would be a good time to go to aftermarket gears as well.

Good luck.

If you can get a complete rear end with an Auburn and 3.73's jump on it. Like NOW! A new 8.8 from Ford racing with 3.73's, stock dif and 28 spline axles is anywhere from $800 to $1000. Also $75 for the dif isn't bad either. I think I paid $250 for a new one last year.
Throw a set of Drag Radials on that with 3.73's and you'll notice a huge difference.

your better off getting it rebuilt while you have the cover off... and even maybe some gears who knows but either way getting it rebuilt will help the car out anyway because if its not working its because somethings broken/wrong lol

with a rebuilt traction lock u will get posi for a little while and the it will end up in 1 wheel peal down the road. thats why its named TRACTION LOCK, its still a limited slip but a little better. if your going to tear it apart put a aburn posi unit or something like that in with gears. i had mine rebuilt and it lasted about a month of pure posi and now it does whatever it wants to do. i wish i would of got rid of the trac-lock. pay close attention to peoples cars some use ford trac-lock others use aburn, eaton, ect, with 31 spline axles. thats my opnion. if you can get a rear end for $250 with all the goodies jump on it. but deals are like that all over.

next option is a ford 9in direct bolt ins there selling now for mustangs. there like $1100 plus the cost of a pig, which it like $250-350 with any size gear u want. that would be the best bang for your buck. and you wont have to worry about breaking it.
