Possible gas leak?

my car''s gas gauge reads lower and lower each time i get in it but the thing is i have driven maybe 30 miles in it total and its taken almost 3/5 a tank. Is it jsut that my gauge is busted or what? I know for a fact that when i wait a while the gauge goes up a little but not much maybe an 1/8 at most. MAybe its the fact i drive a mustang and get 2 mpg?!

What do you got for mods?My 351 only gets about 7mpg when you step-on it now and then around the street.If its a 302 with little mods it might be that your sending unit is bad or your gauge is geting stuck.If not then you got a very heave right foot

If it was leaking from anywhere it would be the rubber grommit where the filler neck goes into the tank. I took mine apart a few weeks ago to put in a new pump and it was cracked.

im gonna put money down that says your fuel level sender is going out....

well, i would fill it up, let it go down however far and fill it up again. then figure out the milage. if it is horrendous, i would be lookin for a leak. the tanks do crack and leak. i would be very very careful until you figure it out (official advice is not to drive or run the car until it is solved).

thats the funny thing though, i dotn drive ti at all! At most i drive maybe 10 minutes a night 4 nights a week and this is just around the block maybe getting WOT only once for 4 seconds. SO i think its stuck or going to ****s.
