So as part of my flood restoration I discovered that the bearings in the front hubs are shot. They make noise like a 30 year old pickup truck with 35" tires.

Now I was always under the impression that the whole hub was a sealed unit. Does that mean I have to replace the entire spindle or can I just replace the bearings and move along my merry way?

You can purchase and replace only the hubs.

for the price of the hubs you are better off searching out a new spindle/hub assy. ask me how I know.

Well it seems the hub assys are running about $70 each. How is the whole spindle foingto be cheaper than that? Especially when I have to replace both sides.

$70 new is still $140. You can get another set of spindles for that much...and then sell off your old ones for $50 or so and let someone else deal with it.

Maybe someone out there will sell you their worn out smog set up so you can deal with that!

hubs rarely just "wear" out. their new design prevents that from happening.
