Put the car on jack stands, put it in reverse and drop a brick on the gas. I have not tried to tamper with one. But if you take apart enough stuff you can prolly roll the numbers where you want.

LOL at jerry beach.. farris bulers day off right?

If you remove your gauge cluster, you can remove the pin that holds your ODO numbers in place, and arrange them however you like.

Also, numbers will go back words if you put a drill on the tranny end of your speedo cable, but not too fast with your average drill.

isn't your gage cluster out of your car already?(i think i saw it in another thread). i would think you should be able to reset it if its out of the car some how.

Start the car.
Put it in reverse.
Drive to the west coast & back a few times.

Leave it alone. I also live in NY & may want to buy that car someday. I would be damn pissed off to find out it was beat on for a couple hundred thousand more miles than it showed on the odometer.

Rolling back

Going in reverse will not work. All you need to do is remove the cluster, take the cover off, and take a small screw driver and roll back each number. Its not rocket science. Be carefull when taking the cluster apart and be aware that it is really illegal to do that.

yeah my cluster is off and out of car...
1) u cant just roll back #s the way the cluster is now (out of car but still all together)
2) the cluster is from another car so its off either way...and if u did wanna buy it, it has a new motor anyway and how would u knmow hwo many times it went around
3) its not illegal now b/c i am legally exempt from mileage readings in NYS. i checked with that. not that i care but i still was curious.
4)Mavrick...where is this pin located? do i have to disassemle the cluster to get to it?
5) and i know reverse wont work, im not a Tard, lol, i wass going to post that in teh original message for no one to say that lol.

-thanks for any help

I know going in reverse won't work; it's called sarcasm. It's illegal for a good reason. So us upstate county boys don't have to beat Long Island college boys for ripping us off after we buy their cars on ebay.

You didn't list in your original post that you were using a different cluster. My partial apology.

I bougt my car ('88 LX) on ebay from Toronto. The seller was so full of crap on just about everything he told me so I'm kind of sensitive about such things. Don't take me to seriously. You should try driving a car in NY that reads in Kilometers per Hour. I was going to change to a different cluster myself but I have gotten used to driving down the highway at 110-120.

ahh this is a PITA...it requires removing the needles and stuff....now as with removing gas gauge and stuff....it doesnt matter if i move it up and down as long as it was origianlly put back on in the correct spot right? sooo if i take it off then i have to do that precise crap correct?

Just a thought. If it doesn't want to roll back why not roll it forward until it hits zero again? Mine has an extra decimal place, currently 200000k or about 130000mi.

Oh yeah, I'd buy a car from you. You have any recent ties with the Gambino's. Are your mob buddies ragging on you for not coming across with enough money for the cappo's. Was that you who was involved in the JFK heist a few years back. Which brings me to my final questions, "how old are you"? Don't you know that ***** is illegal? A new motor makes it a new car? Fogedaboutit. (and I'm very doubtful about the new motor).

ahh i really liek this cluster and dont wanna have to go thru the hassle of putting new white faces on my cluster (heard its a total PITAAAA)..i have to liek totally mangle this thing to get to the insides...and i dont wanna take needles off b/c i heard u have to do it with teh car on or something to get it right. i twisted the back and the mileage goes up...im at liek 68000 so with my drill a little each day...by the time my motors done ishould be at 00000000 lol

ok cockbag...if u would take the time out and real the whole post u'd see...mr i do nothing on SN but wine and complain.....id called the NYS DMV and they said it was perfecly legal..they asked for my VIN and said, Sir, your car is exempt from mileage checks so nothing is kept on record anymore anyway. ANDDD its not teh same cluster that came from teh factory anyway...annnddd if u really wanna get into legal terms about it, its ILLegal to go anywhere past the glass on a dash unless u are a registered mechanic soooo installing white face gauges is therefore illegal...Mr JOZEF STALIN
