I've been running a few ideas through my warped mind, and could use some thoughts on this one....

I'm dropping a 2.8 into my 78 T-top, and since I can't seem to find the parts to set up the clutch linkages, can anyone think of a reason I couldn't just get the II pedal assembly, cut a hole in the firewall, make up a pair of brace plates, and bolt the hydraulic clutch assembly from a Ranger/Bronco II into it? That would give me a self-adjusting clutch, allow me to run an overdrive (Toyo/Kogyo 5-speed), and would simplify things a bit (I have a few spares kicking around anyway...). Its not like I'm building my II to factory spec or anything even approaching "stock" anyway, and I've always had the urge to Redneck things a bit differently.

1) The II uses a cable clutch so above the pedal pivot the pedal is moving the wrong direction to push on the master.

2) Putting the master far enough below the pivot to get enough movement int he right direction would put the master somewhere in the inner fender.

I am no sure how it was set up but I once looked at a II that was way overpriced with a Toyota hydrolic clutch. I am guessing that he redrilled the pedal below the pivot and mounted the rod for the slave cylinder there, but I am not sure.

Yes, I measured this out once long ago, it can be done, I think, by mounting the master c0ck-eyed and mayhaps hogging out the inner fender ... Mayhaps a remote resivoir.

I've worked out a way to mount a master , mail me if interested.
