Hello, i have about decided my new vehicle will be a mustang, late 90's model. I have a 1990 gmc right now, 172000 miles, and it has had the motor blow (then rebuilt) and 2 transmissions go out (also had them rebuilt). I am selling it to get something else. I DO NOT want another vehicle that will do that. I know mine isnt a lemon either, all are like that. I am just curious to see the mileage on your cars, and list any problems you have had (for example, blown motor or transmission). Thanks.

1998 GT 5 Speed
About 110,000 miles

Intake manifold crack
4th gear went bad
starter, alternator, battery all in one week, but thats expected.

Other than that its been a great DD and I love it

Try to find a new edge GT/Cobra (1999-2004) they have more power from the factory and there is more "dress up" products out there to buy.

Almost 60k and for the most part only the normal TR-3650 stuff, a squeaky ToB, and some minor interior issues. Not too bad IMO considering I beat the piss out of this car.

2002 - 46,000 miles

At 10,000 the rear tail shaft seal went (warranty)
At 42,000 the cam shaft position sensor sent an error code. Needed a new sensor and a new alternator (apparantly there was some intereference between the reprogrammed ECU and the old alternator) (warranty).

I drive like a grandma 80% of the time.

2003 GT 15K miles
O2 sensor replaced at 600 miles (warranty).
Mass airflow meter replaced at 1200 miles (warranty).
Mass airflow meter failed again at 4000 miles; replaced with aftermarket unit.
Ejected a spark plug at 5000 miles. Repaired with timesert.

14,500 Miles
-No mechanical issues
-Had a bad tire- under warranty
-Convertible top leaked- under warranty

Otherwise, I love this car. The only thing I would trade it for is an '03/'04 Cobra, or a new convertible (Mustang, of course).

I will drive a car with minor annoyances before I ever settle for import cr*p... (hmm, I was going to use another word for import, but it is censored... )

89,550 Mi
2002 GT

so far it has:

1) loud drivers side window motor, but it only makes noise coming down.

2) Strange moan from rear during initial takeoff (either rear brakes or rear end needs work)
3) Squeaky TOB thats too common with stangs

4) replaced alternator twice, though once you switch over to the reman's its rule of thumb they usually only last a few months, which is why they come with lifetime warranty.

150k or so on the 98.

I've had the intake crack (which was a recall though I replaced it myself.

Transmission needed rebuilt after 125k miles or so. I lost 1st and 2nd gear though automatics aren't going to last forever so it wasn't too bad. Runs great now :nice:

Most of the items that I had to replace were items that eventually do wear done. I replaced motor mounts since they began to go bad. I will need to do some front suspension bushings eventually since I am getting some popping finally. I have replaced the fuel pump as well.

It has been a pretty good car that hasn't left me stranded but once, which was when the fuel pump just shut off when I was driving :nonono: :D

01 GT- aprox 32,000.

1- Starter went

2 - Tranny? (questioned because I think the mechanic fudged it up)

So really the only sure thing was the starter.

99 GT-82k miles

Cracked Intake
Power Steering Pump went
Clutch
Idler Pulley started shooting sparks (too tight)
Rear End needed all new bearings

All of the neglect-everything except for the intake was caused by miscare by the former owner who I know and took it to a local dealer to get everything replaced and it looks like they overdid a few things.......

The intakes crack at the crossover and puke coolant everywhere.....A simple $200 part for a stock replacement.

My cars an 02 GT and i'm at 12,000 miles. The IAC went out about 2 weeks ago. Winshield wipers stopped working around 10,000 miles and a squeaky TOB but other than that everything is fine.

1999 GT "Limited Edition" Approx. 65,000 miles (bought new)

O2 sensor at 10,000 miles- warranty item
wiper/turn signal stalk replaced- warranty item
theft sensor replaced at 60,000 miles- $150
Battery replpaced at 64,000 miles

Thats all, been a reliable car.
