The beginning of the Fake Snake
Just 1000 miles old, and disappointed in the $20K plus markup on the GT500s, here is the tale of my soon to be Shelby clone, tongue-in-cheek named the Fake Snake. This 2007 model is a well optioned Performance White GT Premium with spoiler delete and both new 2007 interior offerings and the Crimson Red leather. While the end result will be to create a unique and somewhat different S197 Mustang it will not be a GT500 look alike although I do have the GT500 rear valance and slim mud flaps, as well as the factory (not Ford Racing) strut tower brace. My approach to building a suitable replacement for not being able to get a GT500 now, and not waiting for increased production and normalization of dealer selling prices, was to comb the aftermarket for design and performance enchancements that would resemble a factory production or Carrol Shelby created ride. This means some subtleties on appointments although there are some great really extreme kits and looks out there! Another consession was the auto trans over the 5 speed, but autos can be fun (and consistant at the drags) at least that is what I keep telling myself so my wife can drive it occasionally. So for me, the 470 HP Paxton supercharger should do the trick. As soon as I figure out to shrink my pix file size I will post one or two "before" photos.
