It seems pretty dead compared to what it used to be around here, and I am just as guilty. I started another project and have been searching other places for info and thought that maybe others might be in the same boat. So, I thought maybe we should see what everyone else is working on. Everyone has always been helpful with II projects, maybe we can all benefit this way too. I'll start...

Back in November '11 I bought another Mustang-an 84 LX convertible. It didn't run, found it needed a fuel pump, replaced it, then found that the 3.8 leaked oil like it was an oil pump. Found a Lincoln Mark VII and swapped the drivetrain into the vert. So, without further ado, here are some pics of the progress....

As purchased...

Bought new wheels and springs....

After pulling the 3.8 and C5 and starting to clean the engine compartment, we found some rust....

So we started repairing by pulling the K member out....

Cut the out the frame rail.....

[url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/11827682@N05/7166988209/]

And started cutting the rotted strut tower....

We then test fit and welded the frame rail in.

Then cut some more of the strut tower and test fit/weld a patch in...

[url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/11827682@N05/7352197874/]

Then we ground and smoothed the welds, primed and sprayed with some black rattle can...

With all of that out of the way, we started reassembly. We reinstalled the K member...

After adding an Explorer GT40 style intake and equal length shorties, we dropped the 5.0 from the Lincoln in...

Then we replaced the rotten top, installed the 8.8 from the Lincoln, added a shift kit and replaced some seals in the AOD, and chased wires and got it running...

We then installed a small wing and a cowl hood to give it a little more flair. Here are both cars as of 8/9/2012...

I must admit I've been a slacker as well. Money is short so no new projects but I created a thread of the ones I have done. Next (when money situation is better) will be a 78 Mach I

Understandable!! I had the chance to buy a King, but passed it up as it was wrecked in the rear and he wanted too much for it. I found this one for cheap, and knowing you can build a Fox for next to nothing, I went ahead and dove in. If I had more $, I would have either bought the King or searched for another II-would love to have a Mach 1 to go with the Cobra!!!

So it's been almost a year since I posted this in hopes of reviving the section a little. A quick update on my end is I graduated and accepted a job in Atlanta. I am now in the Atlanta area working and in the process of buying a house. I'm forced to sell a few parts from the convertible project to get the house, but should be able to at least keep both cars. So, in hopes of reviving the II forum again, this will serve as an update as well as a bump!! What has everyone been up to lately?

Lack of money is hampering my projects as well.

Great job on the Fox repair! When done it didn't even look like it had been repaired.

I'm 2 hours to your west in Birmingham, but don't have a running II at the moment.

Well, it was fun while it lasted. We sold the vert over the weekend. We went back to Iowa over the Thanksgiving holiday to pick up what was left in storage and bring the convertible to Georgia with us, leaving only the Cobra in Iowa. I was out in her dad's shop with the car on the hoist checking things out (had an ongoing tranny leak that I had been fighting, trying to pinpoint it while I still had access to a lift...) and her cousin come out kind of bs'ing with me. Well, after a few minutes he asked the familiar question-how much would I sell it for? I wasn't quite prepared for it, but threw him a reasonable yet kind of high number for the condition of the car. I told him that he would have to take it up with my girlfriend as it was more her car than mine. I really expected her to say no-but she agreed to sell it. A little while later, he come back with a counter which was too low, so I countered back with a still too low number but said let me add up what I had in it and see if I could get down to what he was offering. After adding everything, my first number was still shy, so we agreed to my second number. He got a pretty decent deal. I probably wouldn't have done it if it weren't family. But anyways, we need the money since the move drained us and she still hasn't been able to find a job, so it's probably a good thing. When the time comes, I'm sure if she still wants a Fox convertible we will be able to find one here.

Yeah, I've seen 3 or 4 83-84 convertibles on craigslist since I've moved down here. I don't think it'll be a problem finding another one-only problem we have right now is bills. Once she finds a job, we should be set and can start looking at options. Hoping that day comes soon...

Wow, thanks! The 80 Cobra and 75 Hatch interest me and I haven't came across those. Others are nice as well, my only problem is 88 and newer have to have emissions. The 75 looks like it was nice at one time. Kind of scares me that he took it apart and didn't put back together. I've done that in the past, so it's not always a bad thing. It makes me think they ran into a problem and said "Eh they won't know until they get it back together".

"My plans was to make a 9 sec car but really need the money for the family so I'm going to try to sale it"

Looks like he wants to sell it just because he needs the money? Might be a decent start anyhow... like I said, if I had the money I'd take a look. Might be a solid candidate....

Seems like the 351 swap car had pics posted here somewhere. iirc, someone called about it and got a few pics. The pair of Fox bodies would be very interesting to get. The price seems cheap as well. There have been a handful of 65's on the atl cl as well. again, iirc, there was one for something like 900 with an inline 6. I'd have to go back thru to find it tho....
