Look at the space between the coil pack and the outer, metal piece.


While you're in there tooling around in the dark with engine running, look for leaks in the Lightning Hoses too.

Alright, that doesnt sound like a lot of miles. I have a lot more on mine than that but to be fair, it is electrical so it was worth considering. Coils can leak which can cause arcing, but i feel youd be able to see this, have you had a look at your engine running in the dark?

I looked at it in the dark and saw a bit of lightshow at the coil. The case is arcing against itself pretty badly so time for a new ignition coil

You can see where its been arcing. It's less of one tiny arc and more like (This is the best way I can describe this) thousands of webs crawling on the side in this spot. Ordered up a new Motorcraft part that should finally be the end of these issues. Interestingly I've never noticed these issues with the automatic transmission the torque converter and quiet exhaust ate up most of the driveability issues
