Hi i just purchased a mustang (66 v8, 289) with power drum brakes and want to do the swap to disc. I'm looking at the SSBC kit and wonder if i need to do power disc since i have power drum or can i get away with the cheaper manual disc. Anyone have any experience in this?

Also anyone noticed a difference in performance b/w power and manual disc. Aside from having to push harder? :)

I've done a fair amount of research and think the SSBC is the most bolt on/novice friendly of the kits out there.

Thanks everyone for your help!!

sould work just fine, but you'll need to swap to a dual bowl master cylinder and a proportioning valve.

if you want a really bolt on friendly kit that includes everything including the master cylinder and prop valve for an even better price check out the kit offered by a member here named Degins. here is a link to his site

I have been researching a drum to disc conversion myself. I'm in the very early stages of using 98 Crown Victoria rear discs and Granada front discs. The front conversion is well documented on the internet but I haven't found anything about using Vic rear discs. Since I live in Canada the SSBC kit is a lot of cash by the time it hits my doorstep. I was hoping to engineer my own cheaper. However the SSBC might be the best route.
