It wants to work, but somethings wrong (stripped gear maybe?).
It works okay going back but not forward.
I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I go to the trouble of yanking the seat out.
Any others have this same problem on the SN95's?

yeh if the track goes back but not forward and makes the clicking noise when trying to move forward, its most likley going to be the track itself. Get a price on the track first, expect to pay big bucks, and some of them are a little tricky.

not having seen it yet, i am envisioning a motor turning a pinion gear (or could be a worm gear i guess) that moves the rack, like a "rack and pinion" steering system works.

so if there's a "gear" problem, i imagine it could be either with the rack or the pinion.

but from talking to others, everybody seems to be pointing to the rack as being the problem.

Rack track, it's all the same. Parts is parts. The seat is easy to pull out....four bolts and the electrical connection (power seat). Once it is out I doubt that it is repairable short of replacing the rack/track/bracket/stripped gear. I'm new to the forum. I took some photos of the tracks on a 97 Cobra seat. Long worm gear. The motor appears to be strapped down. If your kucky it could be loose. How do I attach or send photos?

the only way i know to post pics is to upload them to a site that will host them for you, like mustangmods.com, then linking to them.
if you'll email them to me, i can do that and will post them here.

AT the dealer all the were able to get was the whole track assembly. Not even just a motor for the track seperatly. Sucks but thats what I have dealt with. They did use shims for the navigators because the tracks used to get stuck. It was a whole procedure though.
