Hey all. Well the most recent problem is that my driver's side window will not roll up. The passenger side works fine. The fuse is ok. This happened about a month ago, and then one day the window started working again. I hope its not the window motor, but thats the only thing I can think of. Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated. By the by, how much does a new window motor cost, and difficulty of installation? Thanks :damnit:

sounds like either wiring problem (its not a flood car is it?) or the motor is just going. They do tend to get beat after a while. At one point my passenger side stopped working for a little while then it was ok again. I think it was the climate. A new window motor at a ford dealership is probably about $150 at the lowest. I can probably get you one for $100 shipped from the motorcraft warehouse here in PA. Just have someone look at it out there first and make sure its the motor before you go and buy one.

THIS MYSTERY MUST BE SOLVED. My Markviii's window motor decided not to close one night, so i parked it in the garage and realized that ford makes me want to pull my hair out of my head. :damnit: Woke up next morning, and while on the way to work, the winodw rolled up. Unfortunately, the window motor died little more than 7 months later.

I appreciate that, but cash is tight as always, and I would love to start saving up for 31 spline axles+detroit locker+4.10's. Is there any way the switch could be going?

I love this car so damn much, but I hate it at the same time. I think the feeling is mutual around here. Fix Or Repair Daily.... Its a give and take relationship

If you do decided to change the window motor urself, remans tend to be reversed, but require small adjustments Occasionally, i get a EXTREMELY mad customer that tells me i had ordered him the opposite window motor for his ford.

I doubt the switch but might as well check it out. Dont loose any clips, or its gonna look ghetto rigged like mine for the time being.

I need to rob a bank, and get away with it. Then all my car troubles would be gone.

Have you tried goosing the wiring to the motor? The connection at the motor can get a little weary and wires in the door hinge area (inside the articulated boot) can start to short or have opens. Goosing the wiring opens and closes the wire's continuity.

Good luck.

A easy check to test the motor is turn the key to the "on" position and work the window switch, watch your volt gage or dome light and if the guage dips or the lights dim,the motor is burned out.You can pull the motor out and clean the armature and brushes, but its probably not worth it.If the guage or light do nothing, the switch might be bad.To replace it takes about 30-45 minutes(at least when i worked at ford).
