Power Windows 93 GT Troubleshoot

My powers windows do not work occassionally. If the driver side switch is not working then the passenger is always faulty at the time. Im wondering where to start. Should i buy switches or could it be a wire in the door jam? Something else?

It could be any of those things but I would start with something like this:

...and surgically disassemble, clean, and reassemble the driver's side door switch.
