I wish someone could give some input. I currently ma running a bd11a and am looking to upgrade. I can purchase an XB1A and it will fit in the same brackets as my BD11A. Otherwise I will be getting a Novi 2000 or Vortech S-Trim.
The Powerdyne stuff is ok. I've buy a Vortech first. I've seen some deals on Vortech's too. I loved my S-Trim V-1. I buddy of mine had the bd11a and it kept snapping internal belts. Probably because we were trying to get more than 5psi out of it. Even with the addition of a power pipe which took lots of fabbing it didn't make the boost we thought it should. He later switched to an S-Trim.
Here was mine. Not only do the Vortech's perform but they look better than all other brands. I polished mine. Also they say Vortech's are hard to install. I reversed engineered mine a work bench. Took the entire kit to the car and bolted in on, 15 minutes.
I am currently running 6lbs of boost on my BD11A with no issues. the XB1A is a gear driven blower like Vortech and Paxton. The biggest reason I am looking at running the XB1A is that I can use the same brackets as my BD11A. the XB1A reportedly will make 18lbs of boost. My biggest concern is reliability The photo is of my current setup. Haven't had time to polish it yet. Whatever I get next will be polished. Personally I do not see a huge difference in appearance as far as the kit itself goes.
18lbs is what Powerdyne claims. They say that the gear driven units are made to withstand what the belt driven systems could not. I wish that I could find someone running one to get some feedback.
I have a BD11a it was redone by 928 motorsports i make 10 psi everytime...I run an anderson ford 4 inch powerpipe..And a snow performance stage 2 meth kit...I love my powerdyne...But im selling it..lol going turbo...
The gear driven units are much more durable, they even make a little more noise compared to their quiet belt braking counter parts.
Vortech claims the S-trim will make over 20psi as well, maybe on a Honda but not on any built 302 based motor...dont get caught up on a boost number, boost is a measuring a restriction..its a relative number.
Hey Rick would you switch to the Novi 2000 or the Vortech S-Trim or the XB1A? I can get the XB1A for about $1000, the Novi for $2200 not sure about the S-Trim.
