So I'm on my way to work (I work in the city), enjoying my usual early morning 25 minute highway drive to get there, when I look in my rearview mirror and notice the Pontiac emblem on my ass.

Not thinking much of it....I continue cruising in the fast lane at about 70mph minding my own business until I see him disappear in my rearview and begin the lane swith into the middle lane (he thought it'd be cute to pass me for going just as fast as the guy in front of me).

At this point I look down on the driver side of his car and notice the GXP (it looked brand new). Always in the mood for showing up these guys with their high dollar vehicles, I push the gas down in 5th gear and romp up to block him off. At which point he falls in behind me again in the fast lane, where he should have been the whole time.

Remembering that I don't have a license (but could care less), I figured it'd be much safer to have him in FRONT of me if things get hectic versus behind me. Sort of having a front door if you will. I let him get in front of me and then I started to creep up on HIS ass in the fast lane with my foot on the clutch, READY to shift into 4th upon the slightest movement. Surprisingly nothing happened for about 5 minutes we just cruised at about 80mph in the fast lane with him in front, and me in back.

All of a sudden we encounter another vehicle in the fast lane not quite going as fast as us. So the GXP is on this guy's ass, and I'm on the GXP's ass. My foot's on the clutch, I'm ready to rumble......just waiting for the Pontiac to punch it and go around this guy. BAM! There he goes......I hit 4th, I'm right on his ass as we both wheel around the innocent driver in the fast lane. VROOM! VROOM! We both go by and the Pontiac lets off the gas a little and slows down.

Here comes our next obstruction....another car of course. BOOM! He punches it......I punch it....this time no one is letting off. He weaves in and out (car handling PERFECTLY). I'm right on his bumper. He can't walk away from me but I have to keep feathering the gas b/c I'm pulling up to him and if I don't I'll go right through him. So I have the faster car. On the otherhand, I feel like I'm about to die at any second b/c my car has absolutely NO aftermarket suspension parts, and to make matters worse......my STOCK suspension is broken. He's starting to get away from me but we keep hitting temporary straight-aways which allows me to make up the lost ground.......UNTIL.........

The highway clears and we come to a slight bend to the left. I REDLINE 4th gear and slide home into fifth with the pedal to the metal. Here comes the turn. I must've been doing over a hundred miles an hour AND my windows are halfway down. His car stuck to the road like glue, it looked like he could've gone TWICE as fast around the turn, meanwhile.......

My car feels like it's about to lift off and fly like a spaceship. My back end started to drift at 110mph and THAT'S when I FINALLY just had to let go and hit the brakes. I couldn't catch him guys. That mother ****er got away.....EASILY. I had him the whole way and I definitely had a faster car. It wasn't TOO much faster. But it WAS faster.

As soon as we hit that turn in the highway he was gone and I was pissed, and scared ****less at the same time. It wasn't until after I came down to the speed limit again that I noticed my left hand had a deathgrip on the steering wheel. My adrenaline was at max. Boy when my car's assend slid sideways I almost pissed my pants. That's when I realized......I'm done.

Those GXPs are quite nicely put together (ESPECIALLY the suspension tuning). I came into work and looked up their specs. They have an LS4 327 5.3L. Same engine in the new Impala SS which is marketed at 303hp/323lbs.

Oh well..........at least now he knows that the 5.0 is a beast to be bargained with....unless there's a turn coming up.
